FAQs: Almost everything you need to know
Do we have a waiting list?
Yes. Just email us at forestmedicineretreats@gmail.com and we can let you know if there is a cancellation.
How many people attend each retreat?
We usually limit registration to 15 per retreat.
Who can register?
It is open to anyone that is a student, follower or friend of Hollow Reed School.
Where are the retreats?
At Little Retreat in the Forest by Camp Morton, Manitoba an established cabin people love to rent on 80 acres of forest.
Is food provided?
No, you bring your own for the day and for the potluck, usually it works well to bring a cooler in your vehicle to contribute a dish to the vegetarian dinner - we suggest bringing something that is easy to heat up on your own or does not require heating.
Where do I park?
Along our road into the land, you’ll see the signs and other cars parked on the left side of the road. Please DO NOT drive all the way in you’ll need to BACK UP.
What are the washrooms?
We provide composting humanure outhouses and toilets, we can explain and show you when you arrive.
Is there water I can use for washing and drinking?
Yes, we have washing stations and an outdoor basin for washing dishes with running water, and provide potable water.
What do I bring and where is it?
Bring your own camp chair to sit in the screened in Dome during the teachings, and appropriate footwear for walking on the land and for the bugs and weather. We email you a comprehensive Guidebook closer to the retreat that helps with what to bring, including how to get here.
Where do I store my cooler?
It’s always bear season in summer, store it in your vehicle that seems to work just fine.
Where can I keep my food for the potluck?
We don’t really have room for it ourselves but if you can bring room in your cooler or an extra cooler that is probably best.
I need to cancel can I get a refund?
Yes absolutely, at least 14 days ahead of time for a full refund, no refund within 14 days.
If I need a ride can you help with that?
Yes we can send a message to other registrants and see if anyone can message you to give you a ride, we do not offer rides ourselves as we are on the land getting ready.
Can I bring my family?
We respect that some have needs and small children, but unfortunately no please make arrangements you need to, from past experience we are sure you will the retreat time.
Can I bring my dog?
No unfortunately. We love our furry friends but it is not really compatible, and we also have our dog out on the weekend and she unfortunately is a rescue and that would just be a lot of extra work for us to watch for as usually we are busy hosting.
